WHERE DOES OUR BLACK CASTOR OIL COME FROM?

A small island nestled in the heart of the Caribbean, Haiti has many treasures buried in its lush natural surroundings. It all began in Eva's grandparents' backyard, in the village of Piton. In the midst of a verdant landscape, the whole family is at the stove for a most captivating recipe. The main ingredient: castor beans. These seeds come from a tree commonly known as castor bean. A prodigious vegetable oil is extracted from them: Haitian black castor oil. Called Lwil Maskriti in Haitian Creole, (or Carapate Oil in the French West Indies, or Black Castor Oil in the English-speaking world), our Haitian Black Castor Oil is a natural product obtained through a traditional ancestral process.

Castor seeds are roasted and ground, then immersed in boiling water until an amber-colored oil is obtained, with a scent of roasted hazelnuts. This is how black castor oil is made in the pure Haitian tradition. This traditional manufacturing process preserves the best of the omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, vitamin E and ricinoleic acid. All these elements contribute to making our black castor oil unique in the world.

WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF OUR BLACK CASTOR OIL?

Below is the founding father of the brand, Eva's grandfather. It was he who, when she received her very first orders via his YouTube videos, offered to make castor oil, en masse, to help Eva and her husband meet the demand.

HOW IS OUR BLACK CASTOR OIL PRODUCED?

As you can imagine, in the early days of EvasHair, Eva's granddad and his small team produced black castor oil. Very quickly, a new modus operandi was adopted, to keep pace with the very strong appeal of this product. Since then, EvasHair has been working with a number of cooperatives in the Haitian provinces of Léogâne, Kenscoff, Petit Gôave and Côteaux.

This method enables black castor oil to be produced in large quantities, and always with the greatest respect for Haitian tradition. As a result, local people make a decent living from their activity, while remaining in their native provinces. To date, some 70 Haitian families make their living from black castor oil production. And this virtuous activity is even creating a new phenomenon in Haiti: the urban exodus. Indeed, some young people no longer hesitate to leave the capital for the provinces to specialize in black castor oil production. WHAT IS HAITIAN BLACK CASTOR OIL USED FOR?

Haitian black castor oil, or Lwil Maskriti in Haitian Creole, is a multi-functional product that can :

HOW TO USE HAITI BLACK CASTOR OIL?

TO ACCELERATE HAIR GROWTH AND THICKEN HAIR
(Work on a clean, dry scalp)

Apply the equivalent of a pistachio seed of black castor oil to the entire scalp and massage until completely absorbed. Twice a week is recommended. Hair will grow faster and thicker. The oil can also be applied to eyebrows, eyelashes, beard and nails.

TO KEEP HAIR FIBER HYDRATED
(Work in sections on clean hair)

Apply the equivalent of just under a teaspoon of black castor oil to your section after moisturizing with a hair moisturizer. Applying the oil will seal in moisture / finalize the hydration process / lock moisture into the heart of the hair fiber.

AS AN OIL BATH OR DEEP TREATMENT
As an oil bath, apply around 3 to 5 tablespoons of black castor oil to hair, leave on for around 45 minutes under a heated helmet, then proceed to shampoo, then apply the 2-in-1 mask conditioner for around 5 minutes to restore maximum moisture to the hair fiber after shampooing. For deep conditioning, add 5 tablespoons of castor oil to your conditioner or mask, then proceed as usual.

AS A MASSAGE OIL
Heat the desired amount of castor oil in a bain-marie, then spread over the skin and massage until completely absorbed.

BEARD CARE WITH HAITI BLACK CASTOR OIL
Apply 2 drops of black castor oil daily to your beard, massage and comb. Your beard will grow faster and soon become much thicker.
